Toronto 2015 Official Song: Together We Are One by Serena Ryder

Today we're excited to reveal the official song for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games: "Together We Are One," performed by Platinum recording artist Serena Ryder.

The song, written by Murray Daigle, Jasmine Denham and Bobby John, was commissioned by the Games through a project called the Panamania Songworks Camp. It was a multi-day workshop developed by the Songwriters Association of Canada, where songwriters were given the opportunity to collaborate and be mentored by writers already established in the industry. "Together We Are One" was chosen out of 70 submissions created from the workshop. Seventeen artists perform on the song, including Mykey Thomas (Smashing SatellitesNeverest), Spyro Chalkiotis (lead singer of Neverest) and the Morningstar River drummers.

Music and sport have been synonymous for a very long time. World sporting events like the Olympics, or the FIFA World Cup, have produced memorable official anthems that are used to unite and inspire both the athletes and viewers alike.

"Official songs for sporting events are key," said Ryder, when asked about the value that a song like this brings to the table. "They’re the most important thing in a sense because it’s what joins everyone together. It’s their song, it’s everybody’s song."

In addition to radio play, "Together We Are One" will be featured in much of the promotion for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games, and will be used to close the event in a live performance by Ryder at the closing ceremonies. It will also be heard at torch relays, the Athletes' Village and even as the score to a nightly fireworks display at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto.
