Fast and Female and Cross Country Canada’s Women’s Committee are partnering to host a unique event at the 2015 Haywood Ski Nationals on March 16, 2015 at Lappe Nordic.

In keeping with Fast and Female’s mission of inspiring and empowering girls to stay in sports, the event will feature female cross country national team athletes who will work with girls ages 8-19 years old to boost their confidence, motivation and sense of belonging.

While 8-13 year old girls will enjoy on snow ski tips and inspirational talks by Olympic and World Cup ambassadors, girls ages 14-19 will take part in a panel discussion on “Thriving in skiing and school” led by high performance athletes followed by a recovery run and stretch.

National Team athletes involved in the event include Alysson Marshall, Perianne Jones, Heidi Widmer, Dahria Beatty, and Cendrine Browne.

“Cross Country Canada's Women's Committee conducted a survey of female athletes this summer and athletes identified difficulties balancing ski training with university education,” tells Madeleine Williams, Chair of the Committee and 2010 cross country skiing Olympian.

“We are so excited to be able to partner with Fast and Female to start a dialogue between up and coming high school-aged racers and top-level female racers who are balancing ski training with university in various ways. Our goal is to help girls understand that high level skiing doesn't have to mean choosing to delay university education,” she adds.
