Hello everyone! It has been a very long time since my last blog post, in fact, long enough that I won’t bore you all with what has happened over the past year. Instead I will fill you in on the exciting things coming up!
I am currently in the middle of a training block in Vancouver. I injured my femur/hip on the first day of the Weymouth World Cup (in June) so the theme for this block is getting my strength back after having to rest my leg for a few weeks. Things are going really well, and it’s exciting to see the little bits of progress I make everyday.
My next stop is Rio de Janeiro, the Olympic venue, at the end of July. There is a Brazilian Championship taking place and I’m eager to get in some training hours against the other top girls on the Olympic course. A few weeks later I’ll return to Rio for the Olympic Test Event. Qualifying for and racing at the test event is a key part of my Olympic preparation, and I’m looking forward to making the most of the opportunity.
In other news, last week I launched my very own cookbook, “Eat, Sleep, Shvitz!”. Books are available for $30 here, and all proceeds go towards funding my campaign.
I’m also hosting a 1 year countdown BBQ at the end of August. There’s going to be music, trivia (with amazing prizes!), raffle items, great food provided by local businesses, and more. So bring down your family to Kitsilano Yacht Club for a fun night! Tickets and more info available here.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support. I know it’s been a rough start to the season, but things are headed back in the right direction. Stay tuned for some photos and an update from the Olympic venue at the end of July!
